The Tow Foundation supports a select number of programs that help those who are faced with physical and economic challenges in their lives. With these grants, we hope to promote independence and empowerment of both individuals and the organizations they depend on. Our goal is to help people see their self-worth and potential to improve their own lives, as well as to contribute to their community and the larger society.
To provide grants, loans and budget counseling to individuals and families facing homelessness in Westchester County. The vast majority of clients repay their loans in a timely manner, restoring the pool of funds for others.
To support the patient education services provided by the nurses in the hospital’s Pediatric Asthma Center. The goals of the program include improving patient care and helping parents dispense medication properly to help prevent the need for emergency room visits.
To provide weekly home visits and regular telephone contact with parents or other adult caregivers who are identified by state and local sources as at risk of child abuse or neglect. The program helps clients develop the skills to meet the emotional, physical and psychological needs of the children in their care.
To provide outreach, mentoring and home visits to low-income, high-risk pregnant women and new mothers. The goals of the program include increasing healthy birth outcomes, enhancing parenting skills, and reducing incidences of child abuse and neglect.
To provide emotional, financial and advocacy support to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
To support the mobile audiology unit that provides free on-site hearing screenings throughout the five boroughs of New York City to underserved children ages 3 to 5. Parents of the children who are identified as needing additional medical attention are directed to qualified treatment providers.
To provide tuition support to income-eligible working families who otherwise would not have access to quality, affordable child care, making it difficult to remain consistently employed.
To provide financial assistance to enable graduates of Briggs Alternative High School in Norwalk to attend college or a qualified post-secondary vocational program. Trained volunteers guide students through the scholarship and college application processes and provide support throughout the students’ post-secondary program.
