Briggs High School Health Center
To support the health and mental health staff at the school-based health center at Briggs High School, an alternative school primarily for at-risk, uninsured and court-involved youth in Norwalk. Services include physical exams, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, immunizations, dispensation of medication, crisis intervention, counseling, weight management, and nutrition classes. This grant enables the health center to provide patient services free of charge for 25 hours a week, including before and after school, and health instruction in the classrooms. Approximately 1,000 student visits are documented annually.
