Informing State Juvenile Justice Policy: Raise the Age
To identify and convene legislators from nine states where offenders age 17 and younger are automatically treated as adults to learn the impact of raising this age to 18 from states that successfully have made this policy change in recent years, including Connecticut. In addition, NCSL will research and publish a report on Raise the Age that will be distributed electronically to 7,500 legislators and staff across the nation and host a webinar on the topic in 2016 to inform interested policymakers during the new legislative session.
