Founded in 2005, the National Juvenile Justice Network (NJJN) is the only youth justice organization that provides strategic and substantive assistance to state-based advocates to deconstruct harmful policies, prevent youth from coming into contact with the legal system and amplify the voices of those impacted. NJJN provides state-specific technical assistance, research and a national communication strategy to promote unified messaging and action on such issues as the overuse of youth confinement. Its Youth Justice Leadership Institute trains young people of color to be leaders in youth justice reform. In response to members’ requests, NJJN has created a victims’ working group to be responsive to the issues impacting the victims of crime and to advocate for more victims’ services. It also educates members and is committed to an agenda informed by a racial equity lens.
