Solutions Journalism Network (SJN) was founded in response to the widespread focus in journalism on problems themselves, without any focus to these problems’ potential solutions. As such, SJN seeks to spread the practice of rigorous reporting on responses to social problems and promote the broad dissemination of these stories across society. The goal of this effort is to increase the number of American news organizations that regularly integrate solutions-based journalism into their daily reporting. Funding from The Tow Foundation will be used to bolster and expand SJN’s efforts in this mission.
