Grants Awarded
Unrestricted Funding For Center For Prison Education
To provide general support to the Center, which offers accredited Wesleyan University courses to approximately 60 students incarcerated at Cheshire Correctional Institution, a men’s maximum security prison, and York Correctional Institution, Connecticut’s only women’s facility. This grant will help the Center develop a plan for long-term academic growth as it explores the prospect of becoming a degree-granting program for the incarcerated. The Center is a member of the Bard Prison Initiative’s Consortium for the Liberal Arts in Prison.
