Susan Ransden is the director of finance and administration at The Tow Foundation and serves as the assistant secretary to the Board of Directors. She joined the Foundation in June 2015. Prior to joining the Foundation, Susan was a managing director at Deloitte Tax LLP, where she specialized in tax and financial planning for ultra-high-net-worth families, their businesses and their philanthropic entities.
She is responsible for all of the Foundation’s financial, accounting and reporting activities, including financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting and oversight of human resources. She collaborates internally with other administrative departments to develop infrastructure policies and processes that effectively advance the Foundation’s mission. Susan staffs the investment committee of the Board, and works closely with the Foundation’s president, investment committee members and investment managers to ensure prudent stewardship of the Foundation’s investment portfolio. As assistant secretary to the Board of Directors, Susan maintains the Foundation’s records and provides resources to the Board’s directors to assist them in fulfilling their fiduciary duties.
Susan is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Connecticut Society of CPAs. She is also an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster in a local troop.
Susan earned her B.S. in accountancy from Villanova University and holds a CPA license from the State of Connecticut.
