Welcome to the second edition of Changemakers, a new digital series dedicated to vision, innovation and impact. Today’s profile is on Kids in Crisis, a Connecticut-based organization providing around-the-clock help for children, teens and parents.
Kids in Crisis…
Envisions a place where youth and families can go to find hope.
Because it believes all children deserve to be safe and well.
To get there, it provides 24-hour crisis support, counseling, emergency shelter and prevention programs to youth who are impacted by family conflict, abandonment, abuse, neglect or court involvement.
Its major innovation is the breadth of its care. Kids in Crisis is the only emergency shelter in Connecticut that serves newborns to 18-year-olds, accepts children referred by concerned community members, welcomes children of any gender identity and has an onsite health clinic.
