The Tow Foundation has joined Raise The Age NY and many other organizations urging New York Governor Cuomo and NYC Mayor de Blasio to act quickly to reduce the risks to young people and families posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In particular, we are deeply concerned about health risks to young people arrested, prosecuted, and incarcerated in New York State. As New York takes essential measures to reduce contact under the recent Executive Order, including closing schools and shuttering all non-essential businesses, young people and family members continue to face deadly exposure to COVID-19 in precincts, courts, detention centers, and jails, sometimes even for minor offenses.
